What do you want from me?
I know there is a small group of people that read this blog–mainly friends and family. So I’m curious what you, the reader would like from these posts? Entertainment? Education? Information? Debate? News? Community?
The funny thing is that there is no real topic here, except what I run into on a daily basis whether that is an NPR show, a recent purchase or deal, or a trip Rachel and I have been on recently.
I tell myself, what am I to expect if I don’t comment on others’ posts. I read friends’ posts every now and then about how many beers they drunk at the bar or who they say cruising around town that night, and it doesn’t mean much to me. I don’t know the people they do, nor to I give much importance (in the big picture) to their fun night out. I don’t really give that much importance to my own fun nights out. The importance that I discern boils down to what I have learned from the situation and what I can take and apply to future situations.
It would be nice if I was in a foreign country and had humorous social faux pas to share or if I was on a journey through writing a book of poetry or completing an art project, but alas I don’t. No one else writes either–that I run into (in person) on a weekly basis. When I first moved to Indianapolis, I attended a writer’s group that focused on poetry which give me some hope. Most members of the group appeared to be retired English teachers. I felt welcome, but a little out of place.
Speaking of not writing. . .Rachel doesn’t post on here–or at least hasn’t yet, because she says she’s too busy. Therefore, this this entire blog is a misnomer. It should really be “Stephen’s Thoughts.” Ever so often though, my better half gets mentions, so in the meantime–the name will stay.
I don’t have as much rage and angst as I used to. This last week, I flipped through a journal I scrawled in my senior year and tried to gain topical inspiration from past tensions. It helped somewhat, but didn’t have intensity or reality of the present.
I am considering branching off the news/current events posts to another blog and only make this a personal blog. Do you think this is a good idea?
